Phat Tape

I am a music editor who grew up in the late 80's and 90's and loves hip hop. I have been making mix tapes since back in 1990 when I was dubbing cassettes. Now I use different programs to edit every track to some degree (adjusting sound levels, shortening hooks, reducing noise, adjusting tempo, etc.) and even made instrumentals out of songs that did not have official instrumental versions available. I like to include these instrumentals at certain points during the compilations to fit as many songs in and add to the overall atmosphere of that year, and as a freestyle break. A simple cross fade is applied to make a transition between tracks. I spend many hours editing all of these tracks so to me these are much more than just playlists. In the end I try to put together the right balance of east, west, south, and midwest tracks to take people back to each year in hip hop and hopefully bring back some memories, like they do for me.
