Dokta Deejay developed a love of music at an early age of 8. He first learnt to DJ at Carnivore under the mentorship of DJ Edu (Afro Boss) who currently plays on BBC 1 Extra. He began his professional DJ career in the year 2000. He has since played in various establishments in Nairobi, other parts of Kenya, and Tokyo, Japan. With a degree in Medical Laboratory Science, he spends his days in labs expressing his geek science side, hence his signature brand name Dokta Deejay. To reflect his love for both science and music, he wears a white coat & a stethoscope for headphones at all his gigs. Some of the world DJs that have inspired his work include DJ Jazzy Jeff, Skratch Bastid and DJ Angelo. Dokta Deejay is best known for the way that he is able to take his listeners on an inspiring, energizing & therapeutic journey of world music in every set he plays.
